Carstairs Bagpipes

Bespoke Bagpipes, Concert and Practice chanter mouthpieces, Pipe-bags, sporans and more!

100% made in Canada!

We utilize tried and true traditional artisan skills and tooling but we also leverage modern technology like 3D printing and laser cutting. The modern machines carefully guided by the artisan’s hand. While you may see “3D Print” and think “that’s how they make stuff” the truth is that the 3D print is only our starting point and then only for certain items. Every product – regardless of how it begins its life – is hand-turned, hand-sanded, and hand-polished by a human artisan to achieve a soul and finish that mass production cannot replicate.

At Carstairs Bagpipes, we don’t just create our products we live them!

Over 40 years of turning and machining experience

Our workshop is fueled by the same passion that drives your music, and we invite you to step behind the curtain to see how the magic happens and read our Pipe-Maker’s blog:

Our products are Artisan made from premium Materials

We do not sell cheap junk made in far-off factories. We carefully select and use premium wood and other high quality natural and synthetic materials to produce a product tough enough to survive a Canadian winter and still perform during the hottest of summer days. Although it may seem a simple job, there is a fair bit of work and steps involved with turning-out our work. Here’s a sample of some “unfinished” mouthpieces “in work”.

Carstairs Bagpipes is home to “The Stewart Piper” – our very own honest to goodness “from the UK” piper who, like the pipe-maker, is also of Stewart descent. Wander over to the Stewart Pipers’ Blog to read some of her posts and also to see what our Pipe-Maker has been jabbering on about. If you would like to hire The Stewart Piper or a Pipe-Band to perform at an event you are putting on / hosting you can do that too!
